Dominus Gladiatus Recruitment: Market Time, Prices and Talents

Use the Ludus-time market countdown, assess trained recruits and talents, and avoid treating an old opening price table as current.

When does the Slave Market refresh?

The September 17 update says refreshes progress using Ludus time, with a countdown showing when new gladiators arrive. This is an in-game clock, not a server reset or a promise that waiting a real-world hour creates a new recruit.

The October 7 patch adds automatic replacement for gladiators who remain in the market for more than 12 days. That statement concerns individual stale recruits; it does not say the entire market resets together every twelve days.

Read the displayed arrival tooltip before spending on an immediate refresh.

Can you buy a trained gladiator?

The September 6 market overhaul says trained gladiators can appear from Day 20. “Can” is not a guarantee that your next arrival has a preferred class or build.

That update also broadens starting Health variation and adds a purchase confirmation and clearer insufficient-funds feedback. Assess the actual fighter rather than assuming every new recruit is equivalent.

For a replacement needed before a match, check arena readiness first. A useful fighter already in a room may be recoverable through the documented action, while a purchase commits more of the school’s funds.

Which talent descriptions are verified?

Talent Documented benefit Important limit
Charismatic Additional coins from arena fights Exact bonus is not supplied in the cited notes
Harden Immunity to Fatigue-based arena injuries Not immunity to every injury, defeat or death

The August patch separates talents from trained skills in the interface. Read both before choosing a recruit; a talent is not the same as progress in the current training skill.

The recovery guide explains why Harden should not be treated as complete protection, while training changes covers the newer skill behavior.

Why not use the old opening price table?

September’s market overhaul published three starting Health and price combinations. A later September update rebalanced purchase and sell prices again. Those earlier offers are therefore historical examples, not a verified current shopping list.

Kepri’s September 6 Dominus ability is documented as reducing recruit prices by 15%. That is a dated ability statement, not a complete table of all six Domini or a verified rounding rule. Read the price shown by your current game before confirming a purchase.

This site does not calculate an assumed “best coins per Health” ranking from stale prices. Class, equipment, talent and the team’s immediate needs also matter, but a complete current numerical database has not been established.

How do you avoid confusing recruitment with guaranteed income?

A stronger recruit still needs time, equipment and recovery. On updated Ruthless, defeats provide no coins, so a purchase made around an expected consolation reward can leave less room to recover.

See difficulty and rewards before relying on future match income. Employees and Exhibitions covers the documented side activities without inventing a loan system or a universal profit formula.

What should you check when selling?

September moves gladiator selling from the Armory to a dedicated Dominus tab. An earlier patch says equipped items return to the Armory when a gladiator is sold. Check the current sale confirmation and inventory before assuming a different menu means gear has disappeared.

If the result looks wrong, record the fighter, equipment and before/after inventory in the official discussions.

Which sources explain these rules?

Checked November 5, 2026. Current full-game prices, rolls and class statistics remain unverified.
